SssHhhhhh, Whisper is almost done...

Been mindlessly buzzing along and now I find myself toward the end of Whisper. There is an 1" more of the skirt to be finished then she will be FINI!! (Please excuse the dirty mirror... I forgot to clean it before taking the pix)

Dye job...

Since the yarn's been dyed, figured it would be the perfect opportunity to give the yardage counter a test run & see how much yarn I had to play with. Turns out there is 567 yards to play with (yeah!!) The counter, on the other hand, still has some bugs that need working out (damn, damn, damn!).

Dye, Dye, DYE....

After months & months of "planning", Tuesday was the day I finally got around to dying some recycled mohair. I'm on the fence where the color is concerned... So, I'm gonna reserve final judgment until it's been knit up.

It's on & crackin'!!

Whisper is coming along great! I've found that when I don't think about how tedious stickinette is, it moves along real quick!! There is 4" left to complete on the left sleeve the it'll be time to pick up stitches for the neck & waist. Good times!!

The yardage counter is almost complete too!! I FINALLY found some bands that fit the wheel at The 99cents Only store. It was amazing that I showed some control & got out of there for under $7. I also got some wonderful soaps. They're big bars, 5"l x 2.5"w, and are more manageable when cut in half... that's 2 bars for a buck! Can't beat it, so go get you some!!

The Countdown...

My sister has wanted a yardage counter for a while but the cost has kept her from getting one. I thought it would be the perfect B-day gift (back in Aug 09). I did some looking around, saw how expensive they are & decided to make one. I found some instruction and lagged on getting it done, so it got pushed back to Christmas. Yeah, well, it's still not finished... but it's REAL close! I still have to see what kind of mounting clamp she wants & today, I did get the wheel secured down with out it looking too messy. Now it's all about finding/making the guides. I have a few ideas so I'm off to experiment!!

All you have to do is Whisper...

Whisper is a cardigan/shrug hybrid that is knit in (mostly) one piece. Oct 09 is when I casted on but I quickly got bored with the merry-go-round, round & round of the sleeve & moved onto other projects for the Holidays. Now, I'm back on it with renewed vigor!! The right sleeve is completed and just I'm starting across the back.

Lala Scarf

My first FO of the year is Lala Scarf by Kat Coyle. Actually, two were made... for cousins, who happen to be sisters. I had other patterns in mind for each of them but decide it would be easier for me if I used the same pattern but in their favorite colors. KnitPicks Shadow was used for both... one in taupe, pumpkin & redwood. The other in lt. blue, snorkel & midnight.

Getting off the pot...

For the past couple of years, I've wanted to get this blog up an running. Laziness & procrastination has kept it from happening. So, with a New Year upon us, I've decided it was time to crap or get off the pot. Hopefully this little adventure won't stink too much!
